Here we are in London Fashion Week busy thanking all the people who made UK Fashion Awards possible, busy creating our new UK Fashion awards categories, and busy building our UK Fashion Awards Talent initiative – so popular it’s already nearly filled its bandwidth allocation on www.UKFashionAwards.com - when we get the kind of call that’s the stuff of dreams (well, our dreams anyway; we’re strange like this!) Upshot? Three months into the UK Fashion Awards project, we’re honoured to be adding a new brief, a new dimension to what we do…all will be revealed on Wednesday, so watch this space because if we can get things started by then it’ll be good news for a major slice of UK Fashion.

Well, UKF Talent has been going nearly a week and your response has been great. We have five designers already working to get their pages online. The initiative runs until March, so there’s plenty of time for anyone else to give it a go. We’d particularly like to see some applications from the clubwear community: there’s so much exciting talent going into the genre which is still unrecognised by the fashion establishment, so if we could get a full slate of designers recognised before the next UK Fashion Awards nomination procedure, we’d hope to enter the majority of you as nominees into our inaugural UK Fashion Award for Best Clubwear. I’ll be returning to this theme at a later date, once we’ve sorted out some sponsors for the award.

Because of the response to the UK Fashion Awards from people wanting more involvement, UKF Talent is a new route to inclusion in our ‘new blood’ categories of Best Urbanwear, Streetwear, Clubwear, & Surfwear. New designers, companies, students, or graduates: anyone in the world seeking creative involvement in UK fashion can apply for the UKF Talent initiative. If successful you’ll have your own page at www.UKFashionAwards.com free of charge.
FREE SPACE TO SHOW YOUR UK FASHION TALENT
To be included in UKF Talent, what matters to us is (1) that you can supply usable images of your work, and (2) have an existing fanbase, therefore – no matter what your existing CV – if you fulfil these two requirements your inclusion in UKF Talent is guaranteed.

I know it’s only twenty four hours since my last post, but I’ve got to quickly do the decent thing and thank usernames Kerrie and BF for conjuring up another brilliant UK Fashion Awards category suggestion which, when you see it written you’ll probably wonder how it wasn’t there from Day 1: Best Sportswear.
Talk about a “Eureka” moment…

While we’re refining the UK Fashion Awards site, we’re taking on board the views that a number of fashion voters and fashion mentors have advised us about: that we could do with expanding our cutting-edge categories to match up to those which are more established…so we’ve decided to pencil in 3 new UK Fashion Awards categories, namely:
Best Streetwear
Best Clubwear
Best Surfwear
These three new additions will be great fun, and henceforth take our total UK Fashion Awards categories up to 20. They’ll also allow many more nominations from the new and independent sectors of the UK fashion scene: which is part of what we’ve started already with our Best Urbanwear and Best New Designer categories.
We’re always open to new category suggestions - so whether you’re a fashioneer or a fashionista feel free to email any ideas to contact@UKFashionAwards.com and we’ll ponder them for inclusion in the spring – and of course credit you!
